by arun rajiah on December 30, 2008

A projector is a device that integrates a light source, an optics system, electronics and displays for the purpose of projecting an image from a computer or video device onto a wall or screen for large image viewing. These devices attach to a computer or video device as we can connect a monitor or television. An overhead projector is a variant of slide projector that is used to display images to an audience. An overhead projector typically consists of a large box containing a very bright lamp and a fan to cool it on top of which is a large fresnel lens that collimates the light.
The mirror allows both the presenter and the audience to see the image at the same time, the presenter looking down at the transparency as if writing, the audience looking forward at the screen. The height of the mirror can be adjusted, to both focus the image and to make the image larger or smaller depending on how close the projector is to the screen. The overhead projector facilitates an easy low-cost interactive environment for educators.

by arun rajiah on December 23, 2008

Alexander Graham Bell invented the first microphone in 1876 as part of the telephone. Microphone is an electromechanical device that uses vibration to create an electrical signal proportional to the vibration, which is usually an air pressure wave. There are many different types of microphone, ranging from the old condensers to the modern. Microphones are commonly used in television, radio, concerts, telephones, and public address systems, but also in other unusual applications.
A microphone is an example of a transducer, a device that changes information from one form to another. Sound information exists as patterns of air pressure; the microphone changes this information into patterns of electric current. A variety of mechanical techniques can be used in building microphones. Microphones are also categorized according to how well they pick up sound from certain directions. Omni-directionals detect sound equally well from all angles, bi-directionals pickup from the front and back but not the sides, and uni-directionals only pick up sound from the front.
